Lattice3D Launches
New 3D Publishing Suite
Extends Global Lead in Enterprise-wide 3D Data
Use
LOS ALTOS, CA., January 18, 2005 - Lattice3D,
the leader in 3D Publishing, today announced the launch of a new
suite of 3D Publishing applications that enhance manufacturers'
abilities to use, share and repurpose 3D data across the enterprise.
The new products, named Lattice3D Embed, Lattice3D Composer and
Lattice3D Publisher, increase the ability of users to directly and
immediately communicate complex processes, instructions and directions
using 3D data.
Lattice3D applications exploit the XVL format developed
by Lattice Group which is the industry's most robust 3D format,
used by leading vendors and users such as NASA, Toyota and Dassault
Systems. XVL enables the wide-spread use of large scale 3D data
in an unmatched high fidelity compressed form. It typically provides
1/50 to 1/250 (better than 98%) compression in a loss-less format,
which means that large 3D data files become small enough to easily
handle on PC systems and can be sent via email or easily used on
the Internet without loss of detail or visual fidelity.
"Lattice3D's new architecture of interoperable applications
is a fitting vehicle for the sophisticated compression of 3D graphics
offered by Lattice Group's XVL format," says Ken Versprille, Ph.D.,
PLM Research Director, CPD Associates, LLC. "The Lattice3D suite
is well positioned to meet the needs of downstream users of product
data."
New Applications:
Lattice3D's new suite is a set of highly interoperable XVL-based
applications that create a very agile software ecosystem. Users
have a choice of components they need for 3D Publishing now, or
later as internal processes evolve.
Lattice3D Embed enables interactive 3D data
to be easily manipulated and embedded in popular 2D document formats
including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and HTML. The 3D data can be rotated,
zoomed, cross-sectioned and manipulated for greater communication
of information and immediate comprehension by its readers.
Lattice3D Composer creates 3D documents with
linked and interactive 3D data, 2D images, parts lists, assembly
structures and any other structured data. Composer documents can
include all these data types as well as markup text, fully cross
referenced for collaborative problem-solving, process planning,
training, design review, and other communication exchanges. Composer
documents can also be embedded in popular 2D document formats including
Word, Powerpoint, Excel and PDF, Microsoft Office and HTML.
Lattice3D Publisher makes publishing of intelligent
3D information into light weight, fast loading 3D web pages as simple
as selecting a template and clicking a button! It has never been
easier to communicate with interactive 3D parts, components, or
complete products - with or without exploded parts views or animations.
The power of the Internet combined with Lattice3D Publisher means
that ideas, concepts, assembly and maintenance instructions, and
customer help instructions can be conveyed quickly and intuitively
with 3D.
"It's clear that 3D data enables better and faster
comprehension, better retention, better communication and better
collaboration." said Alexander Garcia-Tobar, CEO, Lattice3D. "Lattice3D
technology facilitates communication when words alone don't do an
adequate job, or when efficiencies can be gained by using having
3D everywhere."
All the new products are critical advances from previous
software applications by Lattice3D. Across-the-board all the new
products benefit from the following enhancements:
- Increased
Publishing breadth - Composer and Embed can all output to
XVL, MS Office Documents (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint), PDF,
HTML and Lattice3D's own lightweight 3D document format. Publisher
outputs web pages in HTML.
- Increased
Interoperability - Lattice3D's applications, rather than being
a single large unwieldy application, are now separate but highly
interoperable XML-based applications.
- New User
Interface -Though very recognizable to existing users the
new user interface offers less clicks to get many/most jobs done
and contains modern toolbars and property panels.
- Holistic
approach to publishing - The application suite has been extended
to provide a seamless experience in communication and publishing
from simple embedding to template creation, to mass web publishing.
Advanced praise
for Lattice3D's suite of products include: "All of the applications
are easy to use, providing a powerful set of tools that create complex
documents simply." said Rick Mushing, president, Midwest Engineering
Design Systems, Inc;
"[Lattice3D
products have] a look and feel like every Windows program, easy
to use and still unbeatable Functionality and Performance." Burkhard
Kahles, 3D CAD expert, CADEX
3D Publishing
3D Publishing is a burgeoning market and has been enabled by the
creation of advanced formats such as XML. XVL brings instantaneous
standardization for very diverse formats such as those commonly
found in the 3D design and engineering industry as well as the industry's
best data compression rates.
"The market for 3D publishing is approximately $1
billion and growing rapidly," says Dave Burdick, President of Collaborative
Visions. "It is currently characterized by a variety of ad-hoc tools
used to capture 3D graphics and embed them into MS Office, Adobe
PDF, and Web documents. No dominant player has yet emerged but Lattice
3D is leading with a comprehensive vision and robust solutions."
The new Lattice3D Publishing applications are now
available from Lattice3D. More information can be located at www.lattice3d.com
